History of telling "history"
with man and beast on the oregon trail
who's the beast?
manifest destiny
who's destiny?
Whose history?
As I look at the new books at the library. Immediately I thought "how many of these books are written by Native authors?"
I then realize it has been way too long since I have put pen to paper. Too much of gotta do this, gotta do that.
Our parents did not write down their histories. Our version of the tale.
Are we going to continue the silence?
How does it feel to tell your child that in the book titled "With Man and the Beast" that the beast refers to our ancestors. What does that tell the child?
I don't want to stand aside and be silent.
I won't stand aside and be silent.
Write on.
End the silence.
