Frybread on a spring day

Some days my frybread is wet and soggy.
Some days my frybread is dusty and sandy.
Most days my frybread is just right.

What day is today?

It is sunny and warm.

I've got my apron on
doughy hands

and barely had time
to sit down

As I look at the new books at the library. Immediately I thought "how many of these books are written by Native authors?"

I then realize it has been way too long since I have put pen to paper. Too much of gotta do this, gotta do that.

Our parents did not write down their histories. Our version of the tale.

Are we going to continue the silence?

How does it feel to tell your child that in the book titled "With Man and the Beast" that the beast refers to our ancestors. What does that tell the child?

Gathering of Nations SOON

Got an email talking abou the "Gathering of Dollars" pretty funny since no one seems to know this guy or why he got a big fluff with GON.

Obviously people like going to GON, that is why it is so jammed packed!

They should hire me to cook their frybread though since TGIF bread is always so crispy n crunchy--like snap, crackle, pop cereal!

Still use the same flour--Bluebird Flour--outta Cortez, Colorado. It is the ones all the frybread queens use, except for those "commod bods"! LOL Commodity Flour works best for them. Business has been good, that is why I haven't had time to write these past several months. Will try and get back and write every now and then. But don't expect me to ever publish my SECRET receipe! :P

Wished it looked like this...but instead looked like this:

I went to a relative's house for Thanksgiving and they did NOT have running water! We had to use the outhouse. It is common to find them at the flea market where I make my money to put food on the table and play bingo but come on, why did they choose to host Thanksgiving anyway? Did they not think that it would be chilly, muddy, and wet outside? Oh well, at least I got a break from making frybread...the in=laws did it.
